colour palette

Our colour palette is a key part of the brand identity for Wales. Using these colours in a consistent way will help to make all of our Wales communications distinctive and easily recognised.

The primary colour palette reflects the colours of both the Wales Brand logo and the Wales flag. These colours should be the main colours that are used especially where blocks of colour rather than images are the dominant feature of the design such as banners, promotional items, display panels, spot colour advertising and presentations.

The supporting palette includes some suggested colours that reflect the Wales Brand values and give greater flexibility when creating work. These should be used carefully to compliment the overall design see our helpful tips.

primary palette

Our primary palette is based on the basic colours employed by our logotype.

An additional colour – Green has been added to the primary palette to reflect the colours most associated with Wales and the flag. However this should be used sparingly and should never be used as a primary identifier.

supporting palette

The supporting palette includes natural tones and real colours that are found in Wales. This includes the yellow, orange, green and brown tones.

The blue and purple tones are more appropriate for promoting business and to signify a modern and inventive Wales.

However, any of these colours may be chosen at the discretion of the designer.

  • Use the supporting palette or other naturally occurring colours and tones rather than strong synthetic colours.
  • White space is good.
  • Use the CMYK values where pantone numbers can not be specified.
  • RGB values are to be used for TV and broadcast applications.
  • Hexi (true) and hexi (web) values are for website and new media use.
